Onyx is a banded variety of chalcedony, similar to agate. The color bands in onyx can be any color. The greenish-brown colors in Mexican Onyx are very specific to this variety. It is used often for carving. Mexican Onyx is considered to be a stone of confidence and awakens inner strength. It also encourages positive thinking and brings guidance.
